Please Answer Your Phone

As a servant for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. 2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.  Ephesians 4:1-6

This is God urging you and me to live the life He is calling us to live. Not the life that the world is calling us to live. Not even the way that we desire to live. We are human and with that title comes a lack of self-control and strength. We are only going to be “completely humble and gentle” if we have the One who created humility and gentleness present in our hearts. It is not going to be easy to “keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace” but it is possible, if you know The Prince of Peace.
As Christians, we may claim to the world that we’re living through Christ and love Him…but that means NOTHING if we do things behind the scenes that disregard Him.
I have received a calling from my Creator, and you have too. I received it the day that I was saved years ago. But that calling requires my action. It is my choice to follow and honor God each day through every word I that comes out of my mouth, every thought that pops into my head, and every outward action that I commit. God gave us free will, which means I don’t have to do these things. However, I choose to because my life is better when I do. My heart is a kinder one and my soul is more full when I am choosing to listen to Him.
It is just like when someone calls you on the phone; you get to choose whether or not you answer their call. God is calling you and He is calling me every single day, in big and little ways. He has great things to say to you. Will you please pick up?
